Starting in the Travel Industry this year has been amazing! Seeing clients come back and book straight away on their next adventure I couldn’t wait!
Sooooo when my hubby suggested a weekend away in Broome with friends I was YES please!
Hubby drove and caught up with mates all the way to Port Hedland where he met my Virgin flight.
What I learnt on my first flight in a while:
Check in online 24 hours prior – easy and gives you a QR code to scan when you arrive at the Airport.
I had already pre-selected my seats and chose a window seat. Lucky for this flight that option was free, some airlines now charge for seat pre-allocation.
Virgin Terminal at the Perth International Airport – Fantastic! Great food options and shopping! My Apple watch didn’t charge the night before but no worries as there were plenty of charging stations ready to charge devices before you boarded the plan.
First stop for me – Coffee, water for the Plane and cheese and crackers for the trip.
I found it really helpful to have all my travel vouchers printed, old school traveller here!
I travelled to Port Hedland stayed with friends for the night and then we drove to Broome!
I love our country and we have driven around Australia a few times. Nothing beats an open road with many possibilities. Love stopping at the road houses along the way Sandfire Roadhouse a favourite.
First stop in Broome: Matso’s of course, and not the only time we stopped in here, great staff and food and local Brewers!
Then Airport to pick up Friends, met a new one on the way.
Off to the Oaks Broome, town side. Great location, walk to Town Beach and Matso’s!!
Recommend upgrading to a one-bedroom apartment, which gives you a great living area and a Spa!!! Parking available, secure parking at the rear also. Limited hour of operation in the restaurant and bar, but that didn’t bother us as there was options all around.
Pre Booked Tour!
When heading to Broome investigated what tours were on, we had a few options, but we all agreed on the Dinosaur Adventure tour! WOW! We are so glad we did, we had so much fun and it really got us in holiday mode!!
We got picked up outside our accommodation and taken to their secret spot ?
I learnt so much about Broome just on the short journey in the coach! Very interesting.
I don’t want to give too much away, but if you are in Broome and you can get yourself on one of these tours, you will not be disappointed! Need reef shoes. Or you can hire them
We were lucky enough to be in Broome for two lots of markets!! Saturday morning after breakfast at the hotel, we strolled around the Broome Courthouse Markets. Best mango smoothies!! Local artists and goldsmiths, lots of food stalls and local businesses.
Saturday Night we were lucky to secure a booking at: Papa Fuego
Wish we had this in Mandurah!! Amazing food and cocktails!
Ask for the cocktail in a Smoking cage ?
Managed to explore Sunday morning after Breakfast at The Green Mango and shopping!!
Had a swim at Cable Beach needed to refresh after Saturday night!
Then visited the local award-winning Distillery Moontide, wow what a great experience. Worth paying for the tasting experience and educational, then cheese plate and tour!! They now have cans available, so you can grab some easy takeaways! The Lemon Lime and Bitters was a favourite! Their own bitters! Very Special!
Sunday night we then discovered Town beach with the Christmas Markets! Amazing food trucks and again found more local market stalls.
Monday Hubby headed home, so after a sleep in my girlfriend and I decided to walk into town for breaky and shopping. The Dragonfly Café was great, staff were amazing and another great mango smoothie!
Cab ride back from local taxi. As we were feeling the heat.
We then packed, checked out and walked back to Matso’s where it all began. Broome local taxi’s picked us up and took us to the airport, such great friendly local drivers!
We arrived 2 hours before our flight, But I hadn’t realised that the regional airport doesn’t allow bag drop, so we waited 45 minutes before staff then started to manually check all passengers in. This took a very long time. Should have stayed at Matso’s ?
Little shop inside the airport has great local products in, and the café has a lot of great choices, we opted for a glass of bubbles to finish a great weekend away with friends.
Highly recommend Broome time in November, not peak season but worth a visit, great prices for accommodation. Let us package up a trip for you today!
